The mother of Alice da Silva Aguiar, one of the three young girls who tragically lost their lives in a horrific attack on a dance class in Southport, recently expressed her gratitude towards the local community in her first interview following her daughter’s untimely death. Alex Aguiar, originally from Portugal and now residing in Southport since 2010, conveyed how the community’s overwhelming support has made her feel at home during this difficult time.

Alice, a nine-year-old girl, along with Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, and Bebe King, six, were victims of an attack during a Taylor Swift-themed dance class carried out by Axel Rudakubana. The heart-wrenching incident shook the community and left many in mourning.

In her interview with the Liverpool Echo, Ms. Aguiar shared, «Everyone has been incredible, people who don’t know us and we’re not from here and we’ve got so much help. People have been very kind, wanting to help us, we didn’t expect that. We feel at home and we don’t feel like we have to go back.» The outpouring of compassion and assistance from strangers has provided some solace during this challenging period.

Reflecting on her daughter, Ms. Aguiar fondly reminisced about Alice’s passion for dancing, which began at a tender age of 16 months with baby ballet. She highlighted Alice’s strong bond with her dance instructor, Heidi Liddle, and how the news of Ms. Liddle’s maternity leave left Alice disappointed.

The devastating attack, orchestrated by Rudakubana, took the lives of three innocent young girls and left several others injured. The community came together to offer support and comfort to the families affected by this tragedy.

Rudakubana was sentenced to a minimum of 52 years in prison for the murders of the three girls and the attempted murder of eight other children and two adults. The repercussions of his heinous actions continue to reverberate through the community.

As the families of the victims strive to cope with their loss, they hold onto cherished memories of their daughters and the love they shared. The impact of this senseless tragedy serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of coming together in times of adversity.

The parents of Bebe and Elsie expressed their hopes for how their daughters will be remembered in a heartfelt interview on Good Morning Britain, emphasizing the lasting legacy of their beloved children.

In the wake of this tragedy, the Southport community stands united in support of the affected families, demonstrating resilience and solidarity in the face of unimaginable grief. The memory of Alice da Silva Aguiar, Elsie Dot Stancombe, and Bebe King will forever be cherished by those whose lives they touched.
