A British skier has been discovered deceased at the base of a cliff in the French Alps. The 23-year-old man’s body has not yet been officially identified, and authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his passing. The incident took place near the Avoriaz ski resort close to the town of Morzine in the Portes du Soleil region on Monday. Local prosecutor Xavier Goux-Thiercelin confirmed the tragic news on Friday, with police from two different forces delving into the details of the case.
According to the local publication Le Dauphine Libere, it is believed that the man met his untimely demise after accidentally falling off the cliff the night before his body was discovered. Reports from The Daily Mail indicate that the individual was skiing with companions before attending a party and subsequently getting lost while attempting to ski down the mountain alone. Despite being airlifted to safety, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
A spokesperson from the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office stated, «We are offering assistance to the family of the British man who passed away in France and are coordinating with the local authorities.»
